● About the Role: With the increasing need for technology-driven policing, Gujarat Police is focusing on hiring IT consultants and experts to enhance its digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data management systems.
Role of IT Consultant:
- Strategic IT Planning – Develops and implements technology strategies to modernize policing.
- Cybersecurity & Risk Management – Enhances security protocols to prevent cyber threats and data breaches.
- Digital Transformation – Advises on integrating AI, data analytics, and smart surveillance systems.
- IT Infrastructure Optimization – Ensures smooth operation of databases, networks, and cloud services.
- Policy Compliance & Governance – Aligns IT systems with legal frameworks and law enforcement regulations.
Role of IT Expert Hiring:
- Cybercrime Investigation – Analyzes digital evidence, tracks cybercriminal activities, and prevents online fraud.
- Data Management & Analytics – Implements crime mapping, predictive policing, and intelligence gathering.
- Network & Communication Security – Secures IT infrastructure for seamless police operations.
- Software Development & Maintenance – Builds and maintains applications for case tracking, e-governance, and surveillance.
- Technical Support & Training – Provide hands-on training to police officers in using advanced digital tools.

● Responsibilities and Duties:
○ Maintaining and Managing Information Systems: IT experts are responsible for maintaining the department’s information systems, including databases, networks, and software. They ensure that these systems are secure, up-to-date, and functioning properly.
○ Cyber security: Protecting sensitive and confidential data, as well as preventing cyber threats and attacks, is a significant part of the job. IT experts help establish and maintain cybersecurity protocols to safeguard critical information.
○ Video and Data Analysis: Analysing and interpreting data is crucial for law enforcement. IT experts may assist in data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and potential leads related to criminal activities.
○ Digital Evidence Handling: Police departments often deal with digital evidence, such as computer files, mobile phone data, and video footage. IT experts help in the collection, preservation, and analysis of digital evidence for investigations.
○ Software and Hardware Support: They provide technical support to officers and staff, ensuring that computers, mobile devices, and software tools are working correctly.
○ Network Infrastructure: Managing and maintaining the police department’s network infrastructure, including servers and communication systems, is a core responsibility.
○ Body-Worn Cameras, Workstation, and Surveillance Systems: IT experts help set up and take care of body-worn cameras, Workstation and surveillance systems for police station.
○ Digital Communications: Ensuring that the police department has secure and efficient digital communication systems, such as radios and encrypted messaging, is often part of the role.
○ Training and Education: IT experts provide training and education to police officers and staff on how to use technology and digital tools effectively and securely. They ensure that everyone understands how to operate the equipment properly and follow best practices for security.
○ Compliance and Legal Requirements: Staying informed about and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations related to data privacy, evidence handling, and technology use in law enforcement.
○ Emergency Response Systems: Managing and maintaining technology systems used for emergency response, such as 112 call centers.
○ Collaboration: Collaborating with other law enforcement agencies and agencies related to emergency response and public safety, as well as with other IT experts, to share information and best practices.
○ Operation and Maintenance of CCTV Camera Systems: IT experts handle the technical work for CCTV camera systems. They ensure the cameras are functioning properly by performing regular checks and fixing any issues that arise. They also oversee the surveillance and monitoring systems, making sure these systems provide effective security and capture important footage. Additionally, they manage the storage and retrieval of recorded video, and ensure that all equipment is up-to-date and meets the required standards for security and performance.
○ Troubleshooting Connectivity and Communication Issues at Police Stations: Troubleshooting issues at police station like connectivity failure, hardware/software issues, and police wireless communication failure. Resolving these issues with the concerned agencies.
Educational Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree (Essential):
o B.Tech (Computer Science), or
o B.Tech (Civil Engineering), or
o B.Tech (Electronics), or
o B.Tech (Electronics & Communication)
2. Master’s Degree (Preferred): M.C.A., or M.Sc. (I.T.)
Professional Experience
1. Hands-On Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the I.T sector within a government or private limited company.
o The ability to fulfill all eligibility criteria as prescribed in the scope of work.
o Good knowledge of Gujarati typing is essential.
Certifications (Optional but Valuable)
Certifications in digital marketing tools (e.g., Google Analytics, HubSpot, or Facebook Blueprint).
